General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store and the general operations and supervision of the store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and executing company operational processes.

Essential Functions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
  • Practice safety and maintain awareness on the sales floor.
  • Secure building entrances, EAS devices, cash office, and register area.
  • Keep egress clear and conduct fire alarm tests.
  • Respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service
  • Treat all customers, associates, and other leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times.
  • Recognize associates using company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the dress code.
  • Ensure all associates adhere to the dress code.
  • Keep all areas of the store clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Perform daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards.
  • Receive merchandise trucks when needed.
  • Process all merchandise with urgency.
  • Handle non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms.
  • Assist with transferring merchandise to the sales floor.
  • Secure and process any back‑stock according to policy.
  • Merchandise department back‑stock.
  • Reduce loss due to damage.
  • Comply with monthly presentation guidelines.
  • Handle floor moves and promotional signings.
  • Perform re‑wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention
  • Comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program and maintain a customer‑service presence.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty with associates and customers.
  • Safeguard confidential information, cash, and credit card data.
  • Maintain the Public View Monitor system.
  • Conduct “code” package inspections.
  • Execute company best practices and maximize productivity.
Front End Supervision and Operations
  • Implement company best practices and maximize productivity.
  • Maintain pace, energy, and presence at the front end.
  • Train and coach associates on registers, shortage control, and front‑end procedures.
  • Control associates’ break schedules for backups, lunches, and breaks.
  • Ensure all equipment is operating properly.
  • Maintain proper supplies and recovery for the front end.
  • Ensure go‑backs are expedited, scanned, security‑tagged, and ticketed.
  • Teach all associates the “Scan and Bag” best practice.
  • Ensure salability of merchandise on the front end and specialty racks.
Fitting Rooms
  • Maintain and clean fitting rooms.
  • Audit and account for fitting‑room garment tags.
  • Ensure go‑back compliance throughout the day.
Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager
  • Conduct cash pulls and bank deposits per policy.
  • Manage front‑end control and approve refunds and purchases.
  • Handle payroll administration and scheduling compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required
