Under the supervision of the Operating Room Director/Manager of Sterile Processing or designee, the OR Instrument Technician/Sterile Processing cares for the instruments and supplies by cleaning, organizing and wrapping them in an approved manner conducive to sterilization and disinfection techniques.

• Clean, organize and wrap instruments and supplies for sterilization and disinfection.
• Maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Stand, walk and stoop, push carts, bend and lift supplies for approximately 75% of the workday.

• Knowledge of sterilization techniques, instruments and processing.
• Completion of a formal training program related to instrument processing.
• Must possess customer service skills appropriate to the job and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Previously worked in Central Processing and possesses a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of university and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.

• Position involves standing and walking for long periods of time, approximately 75% of the workday.
• Must have the dexterity, coordination, visual and auditory acuity to perform all job responsibilities.
• Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and be free from signs of illness and infection.
• Must be able to stoop, push carts, bend, lift, and handle stocking supplies.
