Position Summary

PBX Operator’s responsibilities include the timely answering of incoming telephone calls and proper routing of telephone communications. The PBX Operator is to display courtesy and use excellent Customer Service standards with all patients, staff, visitors, and physicians. The PBX Operator will work in a cooperative manner to fulfill the goals of the Department and the Hospital.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous PBX/Communications experience
  • Customer Services experience
  • Computer and typing skills
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
Physical Requirements
  • Hearing and Visual acuity
  • Manual dexterity to perform keyboard functions
  • Ability to push wheelchairs
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
