The Senior Technical Designer is responsible for ensuring the fit, quality, and construction of apparel products from concept through production. This role partners closely with Design, Merchandising, and Production to translate design intent into technically sound garments that meet company standards, cost targets, and timelines.
Key Responsibilities- A great understanding of garment construction from the point of measurement and specifications for tops, bottoms, dresses, sweaters, suiting, and outerwear. Must be able to create technical packages, including specs, trims, sample requests, fittings, corrections, pre-production, and TOP production approvals.
- Experience in both men’s and women’s
- Extensive Knowledge and Ability to spec both knit and woven garments.
- Follow through and full understanding of all aspects of technical design from concept and illustrator sketches.
- Must be proficient in Excel.
- Strong sense of urgency and successful track record in a team-oriented environment
- Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, and time management
- Verbal and written communication skills are crucial, with the ability to communicate easily with overseas vendors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Production, or related field
- 7+ years of technical design experience in the apparel industry
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, grading, and fit
- Experience working with overseas factories and vendors
Ability to lead fit sessions and make confident fit decisions - Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
