Production Planner

Salary Range: $65,000.00 To $80,000.00 Annually

The Production Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining production schedules that ensure efficient use of liquefiers, packaging lines, loading bays, and labor resources. This role will manage short- and long-term planning, monitor inventory levels, and collaborate closely with operations, logistics, procurement, and customer service teams.

Production Scheduling & Coordination
  • Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and long-range production schedules for liquefiers, packaging lines, and loading operations.
  • Balance production capacity across sucrose, invert, and organic liquefiers based on demand, inventory, and railcar availability.
  • Coordinate with packaging teams to schedule bagger and sugar packet lines efficiently.
  • Ensure timely loading and dispatching through the plant’s four loading bays.
  • Adjust schedules proactively in response to equipment downtime, railcar delays, or changes in customer demand.
Planning Tool Development
  • Design, build, and maintain a comprehensive production planning tool using advanced Excel functions (Power Query, Power Pivot, macros/VBA, dashboards, etc.).
  • Integrate planning tool outputs with Sage ERP data to improve forecasting, capacity planning, and material usage tracking.
  • Provide training and documentation for production and operations teams on the new planning system.
Inventory & Material Management
  • Monitor raw sugar, liquid sugar, and finished goods inventory levels to ensure adequate supply for scheduled production.
  • Coordinate with procurement and logistics to manage railcar arrivals, staging, and unloading.
  • Track material usage and yield performance across liquefiers and packaging lines.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with operations, maintenance, quality, and customer service to align production plans with business needs.
  • Communicate schedule changes and priorities clearly to all stakeholders.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Generate production performance reports, capacity analyses, and KPI dashboards.
  • Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Support audits and compliance documentation related to production planning and inventory accuracy.

Required education and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Planning or related field
  • Experience working with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems; SAGE or SAP ERP experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Work environment and physical demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer (including keyboarding.)
  • Ability to stand, crouch, or kneel at times.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
