Overview
The YMCA of the North is seeking Temporary Custodial Support Staff to provide high-quality cleaning, janitorial services, and general building upkeep to ensure a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for children, families, and staff. This short-term role supports our Operations team and maintains facility standards at our Lakeville ECLC offsite location. Team members must be available to work 6:00 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. Custodial Support staff uphold cleanliness, sanitization routines, and facility readiness, contributing to the positive experience and safety of everyone entering our spaces.
As part of the YMCA team, employees receive a free YMCA of the North membership along with discounts on YMCA programs. The salary range for this position is $16.50. We consider an individual’s background and experience in determining salary; base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package for full-time includes a wide range of benefits (medical, dental, life, disability, and more) as well as generous paid time off and free membership.
Part-time benefits will vary.
The Temporary Custodian Support position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across assigned facilities. This role performs routine custodial duties and facility support tasks with moderate independence while upholding organizational standards for service, safety, equity, and professionalism. The position interacts positively with team members, members, and visitors, responding directly to requests or notifying the appropriate maintenance or leadership personnel.
This position reports to the Custodial Supervisor or Custodial Director, who reports to the Branch Executive Director. The role requires collaboration with team members to ensure Association cleanliness standards are consistently met. Attendance at relevant training programs is required.
QualificationsRequired
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and related documents.
- Ability to record and report maintenance needs on the work board.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
- Basic understanding of the care and maintenance of cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, including safe and efficient use.
- Willingness to learn and share improved methods of cleaning.
Preferred
- Bi/multilingual
- Ability to move up to 50 pounds for distances up to 200 feet.
- Ability to safely erect and work on scaffolding, ladders, and platforms.
- Ability to work at heights up to 30 feet for extended periods.
- Ability to work with various cleaning equipment, chemicals, solvents, and solutions in multiple forms (dry, liquid, powder, aerosol).
- Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
- Ability to work in environments that generate dirt and dust.
- Ability to reach overhead, crouch, kneel, work in confined spaces, twist at the waist, shoulders, and legs, and lay on one s stomach or back.
- Ability to work in varied climates, including outdoor areas and pool environments.
- Ability to safely operate equipment such as auto scrubbers, buffers, snow blowers, sweepers, trash compactors, lifts, pressure washers, and hand and power tools.
- Must be able to respond to emergency or on-call situations as required.
