Set on the southern shores of Lake Windermere, just one mile from Newby Bridge, Lakeside Hotel & Spa is a luxury, full-service property offering 83 beautifully appointed bedrooms, a fine dining restaurant, brasserie, spa, swimming pool and a conference suite with uninterrupted lake views. As part of the Classic Lodges collection, we combine independent character with a commitment to professional excellence.

We are seeking a professional and guest-focused Hotel Receptionist to join our Front Office team. This is a key guest-facing role at the heart of the hotel, responsible for delivering a warm welcome and ensuring every guest experience begins and ends with exceptional service and a memorable stay.

The Role

As a Hotel Receptionist, you will play a central role in the daily front-of-house operation. You will be the first point of contact for our guests, managing check-ins and check-outs, handling enquiries, and ensuring every interaction reflects the high standards and genuine hospitality Lakeside Hotel & Spa is known for.

Working closely with other departments, you will help ensure a seamless guest journey from arrival to departure.

About You

You will bring:

  • Previous experience in a reception, front office or customer-facing hospitality role.
  • A warm, professional and confident approach when dealing with guests.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational ability and attention to detail.
  • A calm and solutions-focused approach in a busy environment.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest service.
  • Good IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of PMS systems is preferred but not essential as full training will be given.
  • Flexibility, reliability and a positive team-focused attitude.
Key Responsibilities
  • Welcoming guests and managing check-in and check-out procedures efficiently

  • Handling guest enquiries, requests and reservations both in person and over the phone

  • Providing information about the hotel’s facilities, services and local attractions

  • Managing guest accounts, payments and accurate record keeping

  • Coordinating with housekeeping and other departments to ensure rooms are ready and guest needs are met

  • Maintaining a professional and organised front desk environment

  • Ensuring all guest interactions reflect the hotel’s high standards of service and hospitality
