We are seeking an Entry‑Level Quality Manager to support and lead day‑to‑day quality and food safety activities on the production floor. This is a hands‑on, development‑focused role ideal for someone with strong technical fundamentals who is ready to grow into a broader Quality/Food Safety leadership position.
You will oversee a small team of Quality Technicians, ensure products meet company and customer specifications, and support compliance with FDA and GFSI/customer standards (BRCGS, BAP, etc.).
Quality Systems & Compliance- Oversee daily quality checks (finished product, packaging, labeling, metal detection, CCPs).
- Support food safety programs including HACCP, GMPs, allergen control, sanitation, and traceability.
- Maintain and update SOPs, forms, and quality documentation.
- Support internal, third‑party, regulatory, and customer audits.
- Participate in plant walk‑throughs, internal audits, and corrective action verification.
- Monitor production for conformance to specifications (weight, count, appearance, packaging integrity).
- Review and trend quality data (HOLDs, defects, rework, complaints, COAs, lab results).
- Support or lead RCA/CAPA activities for quality issues and customer complaints.
- Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Sanitation, and Logistics to drive improvements.
- Provide daily direction, coaching, and support to Quality Technicians.
- Ensure quality checks are completed accurately, on time, and documented properly.
- Train operators and technicians on GMPs, defect identification, and documentation.
- Reinforce expectations and help build a strong quality culture on the floor.
- Review and sign off on quality and HACCP records as assigned.
- Manage hold/release documentation and coordinate dispositions with leadership.
- Compile weekly quality summaries and participate in operations meetings.
- Support new product launches, validations, and product cuttings.
- Work with suppliers, procurement, and receiving on raw material quality issues.
- Coordinate product sampling for internal and external laboratory testing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field
- OR Associate degree with 3+ years of relevant food manufacturing quality experience
- 1–3 years in food manufacturing, QA/QC, or a related role
- Experience in FDA‑regulated or GFSI‑certified environments preferred
- HACCP or Seafood HACCP certification
- PCQI, SQF Practitioner, Six Sigma, or GFSI‑related training
- Strong foundation in food safety and quality principles
- Comfortable working on the production floor (cold, wet, noisy environments)
- Detail‑oriented with solid documentation and data review skills
- Strong problem‑solving and root cause thinking
- Effective communicator across hourly and salaried teams
- Organized, accountable, and able to follow through
- Leadership potential with hourly teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; QMS or traceability systems a plus
- Manufacturing plant with frequent floor presence
- Standing, walking, bending, and climbing stairs
- Ability to lift 30–50 lbs. occasionally
- Required PPE
- Flexibility to work off‑shifts, weekends, or extended hours as needed
