The OB/GYN Registered Nurse Coordinator provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to pregnant patients throughout the antenatal period and postpartum phase. This role will serve as a clinical and care-management liaison, coordinating prenatal visits, diagnostic testing, and interdisciplinary services while educating patients on pregnancy progression, warning signs, and healthy behaviors. The coordinator conducts clinical assessments, triages patient concerns, supports obstetric providers with care planning, and ensures continuity of care across outpatient, inpatient and community settings.

This role emphasizes care coordination, patient advocacy, education, and quality outcomes to promote safe pregnancies, positive birth experiences, and healthy postpartum transitions.

    • Standard Work: LRHPG OB/GYN Registered Nurse Coordinator
    • Works with the care team across the continuum including screening of all New OB patients to gather medical and obstetric history, social history, and other health conditions complicating pregnancy.
    • Coordinate patient services for the entire prenatal period including pre-op testing and appointments (e.g., labs, ultrasounds, specialists).
    • Provide education to patients about the ambulatory OB/GYN process, prenatal visit expectations, signs/symptoms to monitor, and expected outcomes.
    • Act as a liaison between patients, Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, specialists, and other members of the care team.
    • Help patients navigate appointments, transportation, transfers and other opportunities as they arise.
    • Handles OB telephone calls, MyChart and in-person triage (for symptom management) as well as patient education.
    • Provide follow-up communication after delivery.
    • Ensure any pre-surgical/pre-procedure requirements are met.
    • The worker in this role must demonstrate competencies as applicable to job and appropriate to scope. Other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
    • May float to other clinics on an as needed basis for operations need.

Essential:
  • High level of interpersonal/communication skills
  • Able to identify OB related problems and clearly communicating the appropriate solutions.
  • Skill in preparing/maintaining prenatal records and responding to correspondence.
  • Apply the principles of comprehensive, community-based, patient-centered, developmentally appropriate, and culturally and linguistically appropriate care.
  • Ability to maintain Joint Commission standards

Essential:
  • Associate Degree
Nonessential:
  • Bachelor Degree
Essential:
  • Nursing:
    If hired after 2013, must obtain Bachelor degree in Nursing within 3 years of employment date.

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support
Other information:

Experience Essential:

- Five years of Registered Nurse experience in Labor and Delivery specialty.

Experience Preferred:

- Three years experience in labor and delivery OBED/Triage.

Certification Essential:

- Registered Nurse
