Manager of Core Systems (Symitar)

The Manager of Core Systems plays a critical leadership role with primary responsibility for overseeing the programming, maintenance, and continual enhancement of PEFCU's core platform, Symitar. This position is centered on maintaining operational integrity and optimizing system processes to ensure consistent and efficient performance for users and members. In addition to technical oversight, the manager leads a small team, offering strategic guidance on configurations and process optimization to uphold high standards of service across the organization.

What

you will do…
  • Core Systems and Process Automation Ownership:
    Leads the administration and ongoing ownership of assigned core systems and process automation platforms, including Synergy and Opcon. Maintains accountability for system configuration updates, integrations with third-party applications, and overall operational performance. Ensure systems are stable, secure, current, and align with business needs while coordinating vendor activities, internal resources, and automation workflows to support efficient operations.
  • Vendor Management and Oversight:
    Owns operational vendor relationships for assigned core and automation systems, ensuring vendors meet contractual obligations. Service levels and performance expectations. Leads ongoing vendor coordination, issue management, and service reviews, and provides input into contract renewals, amendments, and vendor evaluations.
  • Change Management:
    Oversees core system change control activities by tracking, renewing, and validating changes to parameters, Power Ons, and system configurations. Ensures changes follow established change management procedures, are properly tested and documented, and do not adversely impact system stability, security, integrity, or user experience.
  • Project Leadership and Participation:
    Serves as a key stakeholder for all core system-related initiatives, providing subject matter expertise and ensuring core banking activities are executed as planned.
  • Documentation and Procedures:
    Establishes and maintains core system documentation standards, ensuring SOPs, configuration references, and Power On documentation are accurate, current, and consistently maintained by the team.
  • Ticket Management and SLAs:
    Oversees core system ticket management and SLA performance by monitoring open issues, coordinating resolution efforts with Jack Henry and internal teams, and ensuring timely and effective closure. Reviews trends, identifies recurring issues, and supports continuous improvement, as well as system support and service delivery.
  • Leadership and

    Coaching:

    Guides the team and supports development through ongoing feedback, knowledge sharing and cross-training. Coaches and provides direction, mentoring, and technical guidance as needed.
  • System Updates and Release Management:
    Ensures that essential updates, patches, and enhancements for core systems are properly scheduled, executed, and validated to maintain security, reliability, and system currency. Reviews documentation and communicates core system updates to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
