Essential Functions
Monitoring & Maintenance
- Monitors the performance of computer/telecom networks.
- Maintains disk space on all networks daily.
- Tracks server utilization statistics and recommends efficient use.
- Monitors backbone traffic and suggests data transfer optimizations.
- Evaluates router performance and recommends improvements.
- Monitors servers and gateways performance.
- Maintains a log of user problems and evaluates potential network relationships.
Upgrades
- Performs upgrades to data/telecom networks.
- Provides written recommendations, pricing, and justification to management.
- Develops a written plan for each upgrade.
- Notifies customers before major system changes or repairs.
- Performs upgrades during convenient times (nights/weekends).
- Thoroughly tests all network functions after upgrades to ensure full user functionality.
New Technology Implementation
- Evaluates new software that may enhance services offered by the networks.
- Evaluates hardware changes that provide enhanced or additional functionality.
- Makes current on new industry standards and trends.
- Uses pilot programs for installation of new technologies.
- Evaluates different operating systems for performance and functionality.
Project Management
- Determines system requirements for projects.
- Translates and quotes vendor specifications.
- Maintains a project/task list with assignments to ensure tracking.
- Maintains positive interaction with leadership to ensure project success.
Item Reporting and Review
- Ensures all reporting departments use the trouble ticketing system.
- Reviews tickets consistently and reports abnormalities to MIS Director.
- Reviews tickets for accuracy and resolution status.
- Ensures staff maintain a consistent training program.
Customer Support
- Interfaces with department heads to analyze microcomputer needs and satisfaction.
- Plans additions, changes, and relocations of microcomputer equipment.
- Coordinates outside service or consulting as needed.
- Oversees setup, configuration, and maintenance of all hardware and software.
- Manages wiring requests to Operations Manager with adequate lead time.
Audit Review Point of Contact
- Ensures all information requested by auditing bodies is provided timely.
- Ensures staff follow recommendations of auditing bodies.
- Plans and implements changes to mitigate high‑risk audit findings.
- Composes documentation for reporting groups to meet audit requirements.
Scheduling
- Manages scheduling of reporting departments to ensure adequate staffing.
Recruitment & Training
- Reviews applications and resumes for qualified candidates.
- Provides orientation and coordinates training for new personnel.
- Processes termination ratings and requisitions.
- Schedules in‑service and training programs to meet staff needs.
Performance Appraisals
- Prepares, submits, and approves appraisals before HR deadline.
- Evaluates staff performance against job criteria.
- Makes ongoing performance records.
- Communicates deficiencies and achievements, taking corrective action as needed.
Disaster Recovery
- Improves overall disaster awareness and preparedness.
- Defines and communicates plan awareness to management.
- Creates/maintains active disaster recovery process with semi‑annual testing.
This job is primarily sedentary but may require the ability to travel to other sites. Lifting of no more than 50 pounds required. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to multi‑task and change priorities in a high‑stress environment. Ability to work under stressful deadlines.
TravelNo travel is expected except occasional travel to regional sites regarding MIS issues.
Requirements- Associate degree in Computer Science and five years of experience with enterprise‑level computing devices and networking.
- Strong skills in Windows, OS, and server environments and proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Three to five years of experience with Microsoft Active Directory networks.
- Experience with Ethernet and TCP/IP networks.
- Three to five years of experience with servers and networking hardware installations, configurations, and troubleshooting (switches, routers, VPN/firewalls, telecommunications).
- Experience with network topology.
- Experience with TCP/IP and DNS/DHCP communications protocols and Active Directory networks.
- Experience with TCP/IP and DNS/DHCP communications protocols and Active Directory networks.
- Experience with Help Desk ticketing software.
- Familiarity with healthcare/medical systems.
