Responsibilities
  • This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities, including communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees, in addition to planning and directing employees’ work.
  • The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action.
  • Develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensure proper coverage, and complete timesheets.
  • Support the agency mission to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county and community efforts, and contribute to the vision to be the Healthiest State in the Nation.

  • Supervise clinical staff providing nursing services to clients, including assessment and evaluation, documentation, health education and counseling, and referrals with follow-up as required.
  • Coordinate all clinical services and nursing activities (e.g., Adult Health, OB/GYN, Family Planning, Laboratory, Immunizations, STD, TB, Insulin, Epilepsy programs).
  • Handle administrative duties related to clinical personnel, including performance appraisals, performance improvement plans, and counseling on career progression; manage hiring and personnel actions.
Clinical/Duties
  • Assist in referral efforts for external clinical programs.
  • Provide clinic coverage as needed and support staff during leave.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to address staff shortages and support clinics as needed according to staffing matrix.
  • Establish and monitor systems to ensure clinics are ready for provider work, including room readiness and supply logistics.
  • Maintain inventory in the PFS pharmaceutical system and report discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as required, including interpreter duties as needed.
  • Manage orientation and training programs for new clinical personnel and enhanced training for all staff; conduct monthly trainings and develop individualized training as required; establish cross-training for backup support.
  • Disseminate critical information concerning rules, regulations, and policies; ensure best practices are shared.
  • Perform in-house clinical quality assurance following departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure staff confidentiality and security of client information; report any potential breach to the Assistant Director of Nursing.

  • Knowledge of basic sociology and psychology.
  • Knowledge of EHR and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Skill in the use of nursing equipment and instruments; proficiency with computers.
  • Ability to manage a health care operation and supervise people.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; adapt to a flexible schedule.
