Pay Rate: $17.00 - $19.50 per hour
Job SummaryWedgewood Healthcare and Rehabilitation is seeking a compassionate and reliable Transportation Driver to safely transport our residents to appointments and activities. This role requires excellent communication, attention to safety, and a caring attitude toward seniors and residents with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Operate handicapped-accessible vans and 10/14 passenger shuttle buses.
- Perform daily safety checks on vehicles before operation.
- Ensure residents are safely secured with seatbelts, walkers, and wheelchair tie-downs as needed.
- Assist residents with entering/exiting the vehicle, including those using wheelchairs or who have difficulty with steps.
- Follow DOT regulations and facility safety policies.
- Communicate effectively with residents regarding their planned transportation.
- Plan routes considering traffic, weather, and resident needs.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report maintenance or safety issues immediately.
- Assist residents with meals, nutrition, and personal care during appointments as needed.
- Observe and report changes in residents’ physical or mental condition to the charge nurse.
- Follow universal precautions, safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols.
- Protect resident confidentiality and uphold resident rights at all times.
- Must read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and accept constructive feedback.
- Tactful, professional, and able to work harmoniously with residents, staff, families, and visitors.
- Willingness to learn new procedures and incorporate them into daily practice.
- Ability to relate resident condition information accurately.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Experience transporting passengers or providing care in a long-term care setting.
- Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Familiarity with PCC, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
