Summary

Under the direction of Manager, Specialty Pharmacy Operations, the Front-End Supervisor oversees all front-end pharmacy operations such as prescription intake, benefits investigations, prior authorizations, and all front-end operational queues. The Supervisor will also support the pharmacy with issues concerning billing, and work as a liaison between the pharmacy and member AR. The Supervisor will monitor, develop, and train staff on front-end operating procedures as well as develop training materials to support the staff ensuring accuracy and compliance with SOP’s.

Shift

Monday to Friday 9:30am to 6pm. Onsite Centennial, CO or Lakeland, FL

  • Develop, implement, and oversee all front-end pharmacy standard operating procedures as it pertains to: prescription intake, benefits investigation, order entry, item entry, prior authorizations, and adjudication.
  • Actively contributes to the strategic planning and achievement of departmental goals and objectives; attends pertinent meetings when necessary
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality guidelines of HIPAA.
  • Responsible for scheduling, developing, coaching, training, and directing department personnel.
  • Effectively communicate information to the staff and supervisors in an open and timely manner.
  • Handle pharmacy service-related complaints and concerns in accordance with company policy and promote a positive customer experience.
  • Assist with quality improvement programs (i.e. URAC quality projects, ACHC)
  • Cooperates in the documentation and resolution of customer service-related issues.
  • Contributes to and supports an atmosphere of effective teamwork and coordination.
  • Observe employee performance and participate in writing performance reviews.
  • Oversee and develop pharmacy training materials for front-end operations and personnel.
  • Coordinate and assist with all employee training and development.
  • Monitor reports and operational processes to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Assist in system software upgrades with testing.
  • Responsible for submitting any system issues or concerns to appropriate parties.
  • Assist other departments when necessary.
  • Follow and aid in enforcement of all company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • Certified and Registered Pharmacy Technician, (Colorado) in good standing required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Registered with the State of Florida (Florida) in good standing required, certification preferred
  • Two years of experience as a pharmacy technician
  • Experience in a specialty pharmacy is preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle multiple activities or interruptions at once.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, patiently and courteously.
  • Focused team player, who can work in conjunction with pharmacists, other departments, customers, and management.
  • Work independently with little supervision and meet daily deadlines.
Work Environment / Physical Demands

This position is in a typical office environment which requires prolonged sitting in front of a computer. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment including operation of standard computer and phone equipment. May have occasional high stress when dealing with customers/clients. Some travel may be required.
