AP4 Technical Services is seeking an Electrical & Instrument Specialist. The Electrical Turbine & Compressor Specialist is responsible for the installation oversight, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical systems associated with gas turbines, steam turbines, and compressor trains in LNG and Oil & Gas facilities. This role ensures all electrical equipment, power distribution systems, protection schemes, and control interfaces are installed and commissioned in accordance with project specifications, OEM requirements, applicable international standards, and site safety procedures to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operation.
KeyDuties
- Ensure compliance with NEC, IEC, API 541/546, project specifications, and LNG facility electrical standards.
- Oversee installation, inspection, and testing of electrical systems for turbines and compressors, including generators, motors, excitation systems, and auxiliaries.
- Verify installation of HV and LV power distribution systems including switch gear, MCCs, transformers, and associated cabling.
- Perform and witness electrical testing activities such as insulation resistance (IR), megger, hi-pot, continuity, and functional testing.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults in turbine generators, compressor motors, motor drives, excitation systems, and protection schemes.
- Support energization readiness, system walkdowns, and turnover activities.
- Read and interpret one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and loop drawings to ensure correct installation and termination.
- Verify correct installation of grounding, bonding, and lightning protection systems.
- Coordinate with OEM representatives (e.g., Baker Hughes) for inspection, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Interface with turbine control systems including relay logic, PLCs, DCS/SCADA for signal verification and functional checks.
- Ensure proper installation and compliance of electrical equipment in hazardous areas in accordance with ATEX / IECEx requirements.
- Monitor cable routing, glanding, and termination to ensure alignment with quality standards and hazardous area requirements.
- Review and complete ITRs, check sheets, red-line markups, and support compilation of system turnover dossiers.
- Enforce electrical safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash protection, and energization controls.
- Coordinate with mechanical, instrumentation, commissioning, construction, and quality teams to ensure integrated system completion.

- Proven experience with turbine and compressor electrical packages, including generator excitation and protection systems.
- Familiarity with OEM systems (Baker Hughes preferred).
- Experience in installation and maintenance of HV and LV power distribution equipment.
- Proficiency in electrical testing and fault diagnostics.
- Familiarity with hazardous area classification and explosion-proof equipment (ATEX / IECEx).
- Ability to interpret complex electrical drawings and protection schemes.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety practices including LOTO and arc flash requirements.
- Excellent coordination, troubleshooting, and communication skills in a multi-discipline EPC project environment.
