POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTIONControls engineer who, with guidance from the VP Engineering and senior electrical engineering staff, designs control systems, develops panel layouts and wiring schematics, PLC, PC and/or HMI programs, power diagrams and calculations.
SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES- Successfully plans and completes assigned projects – technically sound and within quoted costs.
- Provides complete and accurate quotes and proposals.
- Ensures coordinated efforts among Sales Engineers, Project Engineers, engineering staff, suppliers and subcontractors to exceed anticipated results.
- Exhibits electrical aptitude and provides innovative approaches to problem solving.
- Communicates clearly with customers and supports a “team” environment.
- Strives at all times to provide premier service to internal and external customers.
- Ensures highest quality of work resulting in total customer satisfaction.
- Continuously seeks to improve internal processes through streamlining efforts.
- Assists in maintaining a healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.
- Positively affects the engineering department to exceed corporate quarterly and annual sales goals in profitability and revenue.

- Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates the detailed activities of assigned engineering work; after analyzing the system specifications and gaining a complete understanding of the project requirements in the areas of electrical equipment and design.
- Correctly selects equipment and suppliers to successfully fulfill all project or assignment requirements.
- Participates, coordinates or prepares the technical content, schedule, electrical equipment lists, electrical installation, basis of quote, and overall pricing for proposals.
- Maintains up-to-date and complete project files.
- Participates, prepares or coordinates the release of all forms required to obtain schedule, electrical and controls equipment, electrical installation, spare parts lists and maintenance manuals for assigned tasks.
- Participates and/or assists in concepting, written communications, total electrical pricing and project “estimates to complete.”
- Provides engineering and support for proposal development.
- Implements orders and manages electrical installation subcontractor agreements.
- Learns all aspects of material handling technology and associated controls to keep the company positioned as a leader in the material handling industry.
- Evaluates and prepares recommendations for ways to reduce costs in engineering, equipment, controls and installation.
- Assists in training new hires in company and departmental procedures, drawing standards, and routine electrical engineering applications.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of technical systems experience, including control system design, knowledge of controls.
- PLC and HMI programming experience.
- Panel design experience.
- Skilled at design and engineering of basic controls solutions for material handling systems.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD software.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project software.
- Proficiency using MS Office products and the internet.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Minimum of 2 years of technical systems experience, including control system design, knowledge of controls.
- Understanding or working knowledge of SCADA software.
- Bar code scanners.
- Network systems.
- Warehouse Control System (WCS) and Warehouse Management System (WMS).
