Open-Rank Faculty Position in Aerospace Engineering
Florida Polytechnic University invites applications for multiple faculty positions in Aerospace Engineering at the open‑rank level, with preference given to candidates at the associate‑professor rank. These positions support the launch of Florida Poly’s new Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, which will welcome its first students in Fall 2026.
Florida Poly is the only public university in Florida dedicated exclusively to STEM education. It is a young, rapidly growing institution with a bold plan to expand to 3,000 students by 2030. The Aerospace Engineering degree will reside within the Mechanical Engineering department, which currently enrolls nearly 600 undergraduates and offers a well‑established aerospace concentration. The new degree program will draw directly from this concentration, expanding both its scope and structure.
The curriculum focuses on propulsion, aerodynamics, flight mechanics, aerospace structures, and control systems. Students will engage in project‑based learning beginning in their first year and will participate in mission‑oriented senior design projects, supported operating collaborations with NASA Kennedy Space Center and the Florida Space Institute. Florida Poly’s design sequence was recognized as a strength during the university’s most recent reaccreditation cycle.
These positions offer an opportunity to join a new and growing degree program from the ground up. Faculty will help shape the curriculum, define the student experience, and supervisory the high‑impact program that Һheases Florida’s future aerospace workforce.
Florida Poly offers small class sizes, a hands‑ongröße machine‑learning learning environment, eand a culture centered on undergraduate teaching excellence. While the focus is on undergraduate education, the university also offers a Master of impregnation Science in Mechanical Engineering, providing opportunities for graduate‑level research, mentorship, and student advising.
We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in propulsion, hypersonic, or human spaceflight, though applicants from all aerospace‑related areas are encouraged to apply. Ideal candidates will have a strong record of teaching, research, and student engagement, and will bring enthusiasm for building a distinctive academic program from the ground up.
These are tenure‑track equivalent positions that offer long‑term contracts, advancement opportunities, and post‑tenure review, governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the United Faculty of Florida. The anticipated start date is August 2026, with the possibility of earlier appointments for curriculum development. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
