2nd Shift Skilled Machinist

Overview

Wieland Group, a global leader in copper and copper alloy manufacturing, is seeking a 2nd Shift Skilled Machinist in Lake Zurich, IL. The role involves operating and setting up numerically controlled machine tools to produce complex parts to precise tolerances.

Starting Pay: $27.00/hr – $40.00/hr.

Schedule: 2nd Shift – 4:00 pm to 2:30 am, Monday to Thursday.

• Perform advanced setup operations (aerospace, new product, etc.), adjust and check out programming, and operate NC machine tools to achieve exacting tolerances.
• Troubleshoot issues prior to involving engineering.
• Set up and run all machines on the production floor.
• Train others on CNC machine setup and operation.
• Measure close tolerances as a Certified First Piece Inspector.
• Stack/unload product and perform material handling as instructed.
• Effectively communicate with coworkers and management.
• Enter production quantity accurately in the ERP system.
• Input job data per MBP MMS requirement.
• Measure parts per inspection requirements using gaging and metrology equipment.
• Participate in team activities as needed.
• Act as a "go‑to" person to complete work.

• High school diploma or GED.
• Prior manufacturing experience in a job shop.
• 5–8 years of experience.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of basic mathematics.
• Advanced blueprint reading.
• Advanced understanding of GD&T.
• Proper measuring techniques with a variety of gages.
• Knowledge of ferrous and/or non‑ferrous materials.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
