Information Technology Director
The Village of Lake Zurich is seeking an experienced and hands‑on Information Technology Director to lead the Village’s technological operations. This leadership role involves strategic planning, implementation, and management of IT systems and services to all Village departments.
Position Responsibilities- Conceptualize, develop, and implement IT strategies across all departments that align with the Village’s goals and objectives.
- Manage IT technology initiatives for all areas of IT including security, network and infrastructure, development and software, disaster recovery, and end user.
- Facilitate the integration of new technologies into existing systems for optimal efficiency and productivity.
- Plan, design, implement, operate, and optimize the IT ecosystem to support Village operations.
- Ensure the security and integrity of Village computer systems, networks, and data.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for IT‑related emergencies and system failures including after hours and weekend technology support and 24x7 emergency response.
- Manage IT staff, provide leadership, and ensure professional development.
- Manage outsourced technology support and contracts.
- Oversee software and hardware procurement, installation, and maintenance.
- Collaborate with department heads to understand IT needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Manage the IT budget, optimize costs, and ensure efficient resource allocation.
- Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations concerning IT security and data privacy.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT management in a municipal or government setting.
- In depth knowledge of network infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems.
- Technical experience with technology infrastructure and municipal application software.
- Strong collaboration skills to work closely with all departments and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of municipal governance and public sector IT challenges.
The base salary range for this position is $129,000 - $155,000, depending on qualifications. The Village provides a comprehensive benefits package, including IMRF pension plan, health, dental, and vision insurance, 457 retirement plans, flexible spending accounts, paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, and personal days.
