Job Description

Instruct college students in accordance with educational theories and techniques. Develop discipline-related curricula, assess student learning, participate in program evaluation, college activities and serve on committees. Maintain college and department standards in support of the College's mission and strategic plan.

As a 168‑day, tenure‑track faculty member, you will be on track for a continuing contract. Faculty teach 45 points, maintain office hours, and college business hours that may include, but are not limited to, serving on committees and work teams, meetings, and special projects.

Palm Beach State’s tenure‑track professors must successfully complete a five‑year continuing contract earning process for continued employment.

Teaching assignment hours vary.

Responsibilities
  • Teach interior design courses and maintain a rigorous curriculum.
  • Assess student learning and participate in ongoing program evaluation.
  • Contribute to college activities and serve on academic and administrative committees.
  • Maintain office hours and comply with college business hours.
  • Fulfill service commitments including teaching, committees, meetings, and special projects.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Interior Design or a related field with 18 graduate semester hours, or a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design with demonstrated teaching competencies; alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture with work experience in Interior Design and demonstrated teaching competencies.
  • Demonstrated competencies in sustainable design and proficiency with CAD software.
  • Proficiency with technology in the classroom and ability to use required technology for assigned courses.
  • Experience in teaching and occupational experience recognized by a degree from an accredited institution (regional or NACES‑validated).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, and potentially on multiple campuses.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency to engage a diverse student and employee population.
