Key Responsibilities- The Category Manager has "cradle to grave" product responsibility working in a team environment.
- Primary product group responsibility is industrial motors and power transmission products such as speed reducers, belts and pulleys, couplings, actuators, etc.
- The Category Manager acts as a leader, with other Product Managers in adjacent product categories.
- Develop current and new product lines, including filling offering gaps and selecting appropriate supplier partners.
- Determine new product requirements, branding, vendor selection, negotiating supply agreements, developing marketing material for catalog and web, establishing product pricing, determining initial sales forecast, assisting with a product promotion plan, and product training for internal teams.
- Provide analysis of market/customer needs, the competition, and market segment trends to identify opportunities for new and existing products.
- Presentation of new product opportunities including thorough understanding of available market, pricing, expected market share, and overall cost of doing business.
- Some travel is required.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or approved equivalent degree.
- Experience in Product Marketing or Product Development and P&rivantage responsibilities.
- Experience with agency approvals (UL, CSA, CE, etc.) and CAD (AutoCAD, Solid Works) is desirable.
- Must possess self confidence, organizational skills, time management skills and excellent communication skills.
- Must also be able to work on and manage projects independently, meet deadlines and have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Keeps updated on revisions/improvements to vendors existing products and learns vendor new products.
- Maintains an awareness of the changes in technology used by customers related to assigned products.
- Develops an annual sales plan for addressing strategies for marketing the assigned products in partnership with account managers and vendors.
- Previous work should demonstrate strong and professional interpersonal communication skills.
- The ability to handle a multi‑tasking environment; customer service a must; detail oriented and deadline oriented in a fast‑paced environmentusd, the ability to develop positive, collaborative partnerships with customers, co‑workers and management.
