Summary
The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. As a Human Resources Generalist rles Community College (SCC), you will be instrumental in supporting a student-centered environment by providing comprehensive HR services that enhance the recruitment, development, engagement, and retention of staff dedicated to student success.
In this role, you will support a variety of HR functions, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, compensation, and performance management, ensuring that all staff are empowered to contribute effectively to the institution s mission.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Employee Relations:
Serves as a first point-of-contact for departments regarding HR concerns, needs and issues; evaluates situations, navigates, and directs departments to the various resources available. - Coach supervisors regarding adherence to policies and procedures, as well as applicable federal, state, and local laws; identifies innovative solutions and options to address complex human resource management issues.
- Conducts research, analysis, and studies to address issues and problems related to human resources, recommends programs or actions to resolve problems and guides supervisors in the use of performance management, corrective action plans, and disciplinary actions.
- Administers programs related to performance management, professional development, onboarding, employee engagement.
- Meet with employees to facilitate problem resolution and provide information.
- Maintains knowledge of college policies, processes and resources, as well as applicable federal, state, and local laws.
- Advises employees and managers regarding benefits and leave programs (i.e. short-term disability, long-term disability, family medical leave (FMLA), etc.).
- Administer the Workers Compensation program including claims submission and coordinating accommodation of work restrictions.
- Reviews and verifies incoming and outgoing documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all Unemployment Compensation claims against the college are addressed in a timely manner.
- Reviews personnel actions to include compensation and classification changes, personnel transactions, administers benefit changes and other related human resources processes.
- Provide consultative support and technical expertise to employees on an individual or group basis regarding specific health and welfare, and/or retirement programs covering areas such as benefits eligibility, enrollment, status changes, and offerings.
- Track metrics of human capital to ensure effective processes and data collection to identify problem areas and areas for improvement.
- Analyze performance, gather data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement within the workforce. Generate reports on outcomes, providing insights to senior leadership.
- Collaborate with managers to identify issues and enhance organizational design, development or training needs. May provide training to employees.
- Review forms and/or requests, and ensure that required documentation is complete, and accurate.
- Assists with projects to improve the quality of HR services provided.
- Bachelor s Degree
- SHRM or PHR Certifications Preferred
- 3 – 5 years of experience
- High attention to detail
- Exceptional organizational, planning, and time-management skills
- Sense of urgency and the ability to adapt to changing situations
- Ability to travel to conduct on-site investigations or training when necessary
- Excellent communication skills in both one-on-one and group setting
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
