Position: COTA
Location: Lake St. Louis, MO
Type of Employment: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM •
Compensation: $23/hour, increases based on experience
SSM Health Day Institute is seeking a COTA to work in our specialized outpatient rehabilitation program. We have ten centers across the St. Louis Metro area serving individuals recovering from a traumatic injury or illness who no longer require 24-hour nursing or acute rehabilitative care. COTAs perform patient-related tasks assigned by the therapist, including but not limited to:
- Under the direct supervision of licensed OT, assists with the implementation of therapy plan of care in the Day Room Setting
- Responsible for delegation and direction of support personnel for those assigned patients, in order to enhance patient care services in the Day Room Setting
- Participates in education of patients, families, coworkers, and self
- Performs other professional duties associated with the care of the patient, within the scope of practice
- Assists patients to/from mats, wheelchairs, other equipment as appropriate; assist patients with transfer activities
- Assists with patient-related treatment activities as appropriate
- Engages with patients, supporting therapeutic goals in individual and group settings;
Task initiation and group facilitation - Documentation and billing/charging of skilled activities as applicable
- Upgrading and downgrading tasks for patient engagement
- Plans and transports for Community Reintegration Outings
- Maintains the clinic and clinic equipment in a clean and orderly condition
- Transports patients to /from therapy as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Education:
Associate's Degree in an OT Assistant program required - Current and valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) required
- Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
- Current State Driver’s License in good standing required:
Acquisition of a Class E license allowing for the operation of the bus
