As a variable employee, your flexibility is key; you’ll be scheduled for 20-40 hours of work per week depending on seasonal needs, with potential for full-time, year-round employment. • Engage with customers to assess their needs, problem-solve, inspire, and provide personalized, solutions-based product recommendations.
• Assist customers with selecting plants, gardening tools, and other products while offering advice on plant care and maintenance.
• Help maintain inventory levels, stock shelves, and create visually appealing product displays.
• Perform various tasks in the garden center, including sales, merchandising, cashiering, plant care, carryout, and general housekeeping.
• Ensure products are well-organized and easy for customers to find.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for customers.
• Contribute to a positive team atmosphere, collaborating with others to achieve store goals and high customer satisfaction.
• Availability on Saturdays and Sundays is required.

• 2+ years of retail sales experience, preferably in a garden center or similar green industry setting.
• High level knowledge of plants, horticulture, and gardening principles.
• Applications without demonstrated horticultural knowledge will not be considered.
• Ability to recognize and manage common plant pests and diseases.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism.
• Strong ability to engage customers, identify needs, and effectively upsell additional products or services.
• Capable of lifting 50 pounds regularly and pushing up to 200 pounds with casters.
• Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• A team player who is flexible and willing to take on a variety of tasks.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

• Variable schedule with 20-40 hours of work per week, peak hours in Spring.
• Hours of operation 9am-6pm, 7 days a week.
• Must be capable of working outside during all weather conditions.
• This position is located at our Lake Oswego garden center.

• $18-20 per hour, dependent upon experience.
