Payroll Specialist
Our client is a well-established leader in the construction industry, seeking a Payroll Specialist to join their collaborative team. This position is ideal for a professional who enjoys the complexity of payroll in the construction industry and is looking for a place to grow their skills. You will have the opportunity to work directly under an experienced Payroll Manager who is dedicated to fostering a supportive & collaborative environment to master the nuances of construction-specific labor regulations and union reporting.
Job Duties
- Process full-cycle weekly payroll for over 1,000 employees across multiple locations and jurisdictions.
- Manage the intricate requirements of multiple union agreements, ensuring accurate wage rates and fringe benefit calculations.
- Handle the monthly reporting and payment of union dues and benefits to various locals and trade organizations.
- Coordinate with the HR and project management teams to process new hires, status changes, and terminations.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal controls and labor laws.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to regional inquiries regarding pay and deductions.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation for annual union and workers' compensation audits.
- Identify and suggest improvements to current payroll workflows to enhance team efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years of hands-on experience in full-cycle payroll processing.
- Previous experience in the construction industry or a similar field with high union involvement is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to use formulas to organize large data sets.
- High level of organizational skill and the ability to meet strict weekly deadlines.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with internal and external contacts.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality regarding sensitive employee data.
- Productive as an individual contributor and a team member.
