CONSTRUCTION MECHANICAL ENGINEER III - PROJECT EXECUTION
📍 Lake Mary, FL | 💼 Full-Time
💲 Pay Range: $105K-$115K (W2)
Alphanumeric is hiring a Construction Mechanical Engineer III - Project Execution to join a global, sustainability-driven energy innovator advancing environmentally responsible power technology. This role supports major combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) projects and is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on project execution, cross-functional collaboration, and technical leadership across construction and commissioning activities.
About the Role
The Construction Mechanical Engineer III will plan, direct, and execute technical procedures for the construction and commissioning of CCGT projects. Working under the direction of the PSM Manager or Section Team Leader, this engineer serves as the primary technical contact for assigned projects-coordinating with Engineering Teams, Technical Field Advisors (TFAs), suppliers, vendors, and contractors to ensure successful installation and startup of gas turbine systems.
You will ensure timely resolution of Project Action Requests (PARs), provide technical guidance throughout construction phases, and support project managers and engineers with clear and proactive communication.

Construction & Installation Oversight
- Review and verify foundation work, centerline alignment, setting/leveling, and seating plate installation.
- Oversee installation of gas turbines on pedestals and related auxiliary systems.
- Manage equipment adjustments, grouting, generator coupling, and mechanical alignments.
- Supervise installation of gas turbine piping, SSS clutch, thrust bearing, lube oil, and control oil systems.
- Ensure proper application of thermal insulation and adherence to installation standards.
- Serve as the project's technical point of contact, ensuring timely responses to PARs and RFIs.
- Maintain continuous communication with internal teams (HTC, TGO, MELCO) and external suppliers to resolve issues promptly.
- Review, revise, and develop OEM erection and commissioning procedures.
- Track and document daily project activities and maintain the PSM Project Procedure List.
- Participate in and lead technical portions of weekly project progress calls.
- Support Project Managers and Project Engineers by communicating technical risks, resolutions, and dependencies.
- Review drawings for completeness, detail, and accuracy; coordinate between manufacturer and internal engineering teams.
- Study and interpret project specifications, procedures, engineered documents, and contract requirements.
- Prepare erection and commissioning procedures for ground-up gas turbine installation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local codes, industry standards, and company policies.
- Represent PSM in project meetings and ensure successful completion of all assigned responsibilities.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 7+ years of experience with gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators; OR 10+ years of power plant design and/or installation/commissioning experience.
- Deep knowledge of simple cycle, combined cycle, and combined heat and power configurations, including multi-shaft and single-shaft power train systems.
- Ability to independently compile installation and commissioning procedures for power train equipment.
- Ability to resolve complex PARs, RFIs, and technical inquiries related to turbine installations.
- Demonstrated expertise in power train components and supporting auxiliary systems.
