Associate Degree Nursing Faculty

Job Summary / Basic Function

The ADN Faculty Member is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in both didactic and clinical learning environments. Instruction may occur in traditional on-campus classrooms, skills and simulation laboratories, community-based clinical settings, and/or online or hybrid formats.

Thirty-five (35) hrs a week required on campus or clinical site, times vary depending on individual assignment.

• Teaches assigned courses using established syllabi and curriculum guidelines.
• Ensures comprehensive coverage of required content, learning outcomes, and competencies.
• Develops and administers assessments (e.g., exams, assignments, skills evaluations) in alignment with course objectives and faculty handbook expectations.
• Introduces, demonstrates, supervises, and evaluates students’ development of nursing skills and clinical competencies.
• Supervises and mentors students in the delivery of patient care across varied clinical settings (e.g., acute care hospitals, long‑term care facilities, community agencies, and simulation environments).
• Facilitates learning experiences that support the application of theoretical knowledge to direct patient care.
• Evaluates student performance in clinical practice, including clinical reasoning, hands‑on skills, professional behavior, and documentation.
• Course management:
  Participates in course design, instruction, grading, and evaluation; comprehensive program design and evaluation.
• Supports the development of a proposal for a part‑time ADN track curriculum; receive structured onboarding by shadowing current instructors.
• Participate in department and college‑based committee activities.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
• Grant funded and contingent upon funding availability

100% on‑site presence.

Ability to move about the classroom, hospital, and traverse campus, carrying, handling, bending, reaching, fine dexterity, vision, hearing, talking, and ability to drive to off‑campus locations (Lake Jackson, Angleton, Sweeny, Bay City, Pearland).

Minimum requirements for the position are:

• Hold a current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.
• Hold a master’s degree or doctoral degree, preferably in nursing.
• Show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the subject areas of teaching responsibility.
• A nurse faculty member holding a master’s degree or doctoral degree in a discipline other than nursing shall hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing from an approved or accredited baccalaureate program in nursing; and (i) if teaching in a diploma or associate degree nursing program, shall have at least six (6) graduate semester hours in nursing appropriate to assigned teaching responsibilities.
• Minimum of five recent years of clinical experience.
• Minimum of three recent years of teaching experience in higher education.
• Experience of supervising students in clinical experiences.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver constructive feedback, referrals, remediation plans, formative and summative assessment.
• Expertise in constructing and measuring student learning outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability working with culturally diverse populations.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Thrives in a challenging environment and embraces technology.
• Interest in alternative instructional delivery methods.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of nursing education theory and techniques.
• Safety procedures.
• Use of medical and office equipment.
• Quality control.
