Beach Attendant

Overview

This part-time seasonal position checks identification of residents and guests to beaches and ensures beaches are clean, safe, and secure for residents and guests. This position reports to the Director of Parks and Recreation or designee.

• Maintain a clean environment: rake beaches, pick up trash, and dispose of garbage as needed.
• Greet each visitor and check identification to ensure residency before entry to beaches.
• Interpret and enforce Village rules, regulations and policies pertaining to facility use; explain rules and regulations to patrons and answer facility policy questions.
• Respond to customer complaints or questions and provide assistance as needed.
• Communicate and escalate issues as appropriate.
• Monitor weather conditions and advise patrons of inclement weather.
• Keep and maintain all records and documentation of work performed.
• Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure proper use, care, and maintenance; report repairs or issues to supervisor.
• Utilize proper safety precautions related to all work performed and adhere to all departmental and Village safety policies.
• Advise supervisor of hazards and corrective actions.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Experience working in a similar environment or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Punctual and dependable.
• Must be able to work weekends.
• At least 16 years of age.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred.

• Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds with a limited range for access to storage boxes.
• Sitting, standing, speaking or hearing, and using hands to finger, handle or feel; repetitive motions; occasional walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling; reaching with hands and arms.
• Standard vision requirements and vocal communication required for expressing ideas by spoken word; hearing required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
• Work involves preparing and analyzing written or computer data and observing general surroundings and activities.
• Exposure to environmental conditions including bodily fluids; generally in a noisy setting.
