Responsibilities

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow associates with respect, efficiently follows all company best practice standards as outlined in all work centers, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation.

The Retail Associate is expected to engage in these tasks during all working hours and may be requested to perform additional duties in specific situations as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Practice safe behaviors and prioritize safety in all activities.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor, ensuring a safe environment and clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy at all times.
  • Assist customers using register training, merchandise knowledge, and polite, knowledgeable service.
  • Respond promptly to customer service calls and handle issues courteously, escalating to Store Leadership when necessary.
  • Represent and support the Ross brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, and replenishing restroom supplies.
  • Perform daily assigned sizing and recovery to maintain neat, clean, and organized merchandise.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise receipts to the sales floor with urgency and merchandize items per company best practice.
  • Understand loss prevention awareness programs and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions, safeguarding confidential, cash, and merchandise information.
  • Follow all mark‑out‑of‑stock policies and cash handling procedures with a high level of accuracy and awareness.
  • Execute Store best practices to maximize productivity and minimize touches.

Qualifications
  • Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and Store Leadership in a friendly and respectful manner.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
  • Stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds occasionally.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts:
    Push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds regularly.
