Overview

RISE provides services for people with disabilities including residential settings, day programs, employment assistance, managed care, and hourly supports. Our mission is to create opportunities for and with people, including individuals, families, employees and stakeholders, through all of our actions. We are hiring Parent(s) as Paid Caregiver Direct Support Professionals in our HCBS (Home and Community Based Services) program to provide direct support to people and/or their families, and as needed in their own homes, in accordance with the RISE Mission, Vision and Values and all regulations and policies related to HCBS programs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide assistance to people receiving support through the implementation of the RISE mission, vision, and values
  • Demonstrate respect and promote choice
  • Promote the rights of people receiving support and contribute to an environment free of abuse, neglect, or exploitation
  • Assist people with daily living, hygiene, meal planning/preparation/clean-up, mobility, and related activities as applicable
  • Encourage relationships and facilitate community access and transportation
  • Assist with lifting/transferring, therapeutic objectives, and behavioral supports as needed, including redirecting and/or physically supporting when approved
  • Provide adequate supervision and follow medical protocols and doctor’s orders; implement specialized interventions for unique health needs as required
  • Address other needs of the person/family as identified by the team
Service Areas
  • Attendant Care Provider: support in homes for activities of daily living and hygiene; requires funding agency approval
  • Habilitation Provider: supports above plus outcomes specified in the plan, includes maintaining documentation
  • Respite Provider: supervises and supports in homes, typically daily
  • Companionship Home Provider: supports in the home per plan and maintains documentation
Qualifications
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Experience and education in developmental disabilities or related field preferred; required for habilitation
  • Desire and interest in working with people with disabilities or special needs
  • Verbal and written communication skills adequate to the job
  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be over twenty-one (21) years if required to drive a RISE vehicle and meet other requirements per the RISE Insurance Agency
  • Satisfactory background check and obtain Level One Fingerprint Card clearance
  • Specific language abilities (other than English) may be required to meet the needs of people/families served; respect for cultural differences
  • Reliable transportation to the work site and access to a telephone
  • Must complete CPR, First Aid, and Article 9 training
CMS REQUIREMENTS
  • This caregiver position is for parents with children ages birth to 17; when the child turns 18, a new job description is required
  • 40-hour-per-week limit for minor children; this includes Attendant Care and Habilitation hours
  • Both parents must work for a single Qualified Vendor agency
  • Paid caregivers can provide up to 16 hours of paid care in a 24-hour period
  • Beginning July 1, 2025, additional hours for Attendant Care or Habilitation must be completed by an alternate Direct Support Professional; applies to the legally responsible parent
Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure safety and respond to emergencies; follow medical protocols as required
  • Assist with activities of daily living, hygiene, mobility, meal planning, and household tasks
  • Assist in accessing community and arranging transportation
  • Maintain required records, logs, and documentation as required by RISE policy and state requirements
Compensation & Benefits
  • Attendant Care: around $16.80 per hour
  • Habilitation: around $17.00 per hour
  • Respite: around $16.80 per hour
