Description
Description The duties of a registered radiologic technologist include:
Receiving, relaying and documenting verbal, written and electronic orders in the patient’s medical record, corroborating patient's clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a LIP, verifying informed consent, assuming responsibility for patient needs during procedures, preparing patients for procedures, applying principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others, performing venipuncture as prescribed by a LIP, starting and maintaining intravenous access as prescribed by a LIP, evaluating images for technical quality, ensuring proper identification is recorded, identifying and managing emergency situations, providing education, educating and monitoring students and other health care providers and performing ongoing quality assurance activities.
The scope of practice of the radiographer also includes performing diagnostic radiographic procedures, determining radiographic technique exposure factors, assisting LIP with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiography procedures, performing noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed by a LIP, and applying the principles of patient safety during all aspects of radiographic procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.
Qualifications
Qualifications Demonstrate completion of an accredited educational program in radiologic technology. Two-year certificate, associate degree and/or four-year baccalaureate degree programs. Prefer 3 years experience in Hospital setting. Successfully pass a certification examiniation by ARRT in radiology. MRTBE licensure for AZ. Maintain certification & licensure with appropriate continuing education requirements. BLS within 60 days of hire
