- Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to guest questions and concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at Game Stop; prioritize guests over tasks and demonstrate that commitment by circulating throughout the store.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Promptly and accurately process guest purchases and return transactions using the POS system; handle cash correctly, provide receipts, and maintain top-notch guest service.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; answer phone calls promptly and professionally; escalate customer issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
- Promote Game Stop's guest benefits such as new title reservations, trade-ins, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in company policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines.
- Observe associate performance, provide feedback, address unsatisfactory performance as directed, and ensure alignment with guest service expectations.
- Provide timely recognition and feedback to store associates; document performance feedback in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
- In partnership with the Store Manager, ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing a shift; ensure familiarity with policies, inventory, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics.
- Schedule store associates to follow guidelines, manage breaks and meals, and maintain optimal staffing for guest service.
- Approve payroll, manage time off requests, and ensure accurate pay for time worked.
- Keep all store areas clean, organized, and merchandised per company guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in working order.
- Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
- Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; communicate concerns to the Store Manager as needed.
- Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
- Conduct inventory counts and restock merchandise; ensure products are represented and alphabetized on the sales floor.
- Reconcile daily transactions and bank deposits in the POS system; ensure cash availability and accurate closeout paperwork.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and report discrepancies to the Store Manager or District Manager.
- Process defectives and recalls promptly; label boxes with proper packing lists.
- Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety; address hazardous situations and report injuries per guidelines.
- Maintain store records neatly and ensure manuals are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager's absence.
- Adhere to Game Stop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics and Conduct.
- Adhere to opening and closing procedures.
- Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor degree with emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
- At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
- Video game knowledge preferred.
