Join the team at exposition Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital as a full‑time Registered Nurse in our Float Pool. You will provide flexible, high‑quality care across multiple units, supporting our mission of world‑class patient care.

The salary range for this position is $34.50 – $55.20 per hour. Placement within the range depends on experience, internal equity and collective‑bargaining agreement rules for union positions.

Description

As a Registered Nurse with a BSN, you embody the attributes of the Relationship‑Based Care model and perform PPM core functions. Under department leadership you reflect सुपर same vision and values of NM; you adhere to the Illinois Nurse Practice Act, the Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and all applicable policies, guidelines and accreditation standards.

Responsibilities Relationship to Patient/Family and Community
  • Perform a comprehensive assessment awakening all assigned patients and document results.
  • Communicate changes in patient condition promptly.
  • Utilize appropriate nursing diagnoses and assessment data to set realistic measurable goals on the plan of care; modify the plan when indicated.
  • Identify and prioritize patient needs and nursing diagnoses.
  • Collaborate with patient, family and health‑care team during care planning and discharge planning, and make appropriate referrals.
  • Evaluate patient response to interventions and adjust the plan of care accordingly.
  • Ensure discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and portal usage guidance are fully explained to patients/families.
Patient Education/Ethic and Diversity
  • Support patient, family, and spiritual/cultural needs during assessment and teaching.
  • Identify learning level and readiness; document educational record.
  • Use teach‑back methodology for medication education.
  • Deploy Krames for clinical condition education and apply culture vision resources.
  • Treat patients, families and staff with respect and dignity.
  • Recognize the contribution of significant others within the plan of care.
  • Adhere to ethical practice standards.
  • Request an ethics consult when appropriate.
EBP and Research
  • Implement evidence‑based interventions aligned with the established care plan.
  • Maintain and advance professional nursing science using resources such as Ovid/Joanna Briggs, Up To Date , Culture Vision, and other reliable evidence sources.
  • Participate actively in clinical LADDER projects or unit/organization process improvement.
Healing Safe Environment
  • Demonstrate safe medication administration via bar‑coding.
  • Promote patient safety and respect for patient rights.
  • Provide timely, accurate information during bedside shift reports/hand‑off.
  • Collaborate in hourly rounds with patient‑care technicians.
  • Maintain a safe environment of excellence for patients.
  • Innovate and contribute to meeting unit‑based and organizational quality metrics.
  • Prevent pressure ulcers, falls, CAUTI, and central line infections as appropriate.
  • Act as unit safety facilitator or designated quality initiative resource.
  • Participate in unit huddles.
Relationship to Colleagues Shared Leadership
  • Oversee and direct patient‑care or support technicians; maintain accountability for patient care.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills in leading and directing others; address conflict appropriately.
  • Assume charge‑nurse/preceptor duties when needed and coordinate patient care across the unit.
