Athletic Trainer-Ortho Full Time Days at Northwestern Medicine Catherine Gratz Griffin Lake Forest Hospital
The salary range for this position is $25.87 - $36.22 (Hourly Rate). Placement within the salary range is dependent on factors such as relevant work experience and internal equity. For positions represented by a labor union, placement is guided by the collective bargaining agreement.

This is a full‑time position (40 hrs per week) traveling between Lake Forest, Grayslake, and Glenview locations, with occasional cross‑coverage in Gurnee and Evanston. Schedule is Monday through Friday, hours vary between 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Responsibilities- Uses organizational and unit resources efficiently.
- Manages work schedule efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time.
- Contributes to opportunities and processes for continuous improvement.
- Participates in efforts to reduce costs, streamline work processes, improve and grow services.
- Demonstrates creative problem solving and adapts treatment to special circumstances as evidenced by team feedback and documentation.
- Wields essential skill competencies in selecting appropriate evaluation, using treatment modalities, equipment and protocols.
- Performs re‑evaluations per department guidelines, adjusting the treatment plan accordingly. Evidenced by chart review.
- Assumes responsibility for athletic training under the supervision of the referring physician. Manages patient from initial contact to safety and treatment outcome as evidenced by team feedback and documentation.
- Adheres to department policy regarding evaluations; all notes are legible.
- Completes daily notes that reflect patient response, performance, and assessment status, meeting all regulatory documentation requirements (e.g., enabling other therapists to continue treatment, payment interpretation).
- Provides educational materials and methods appropriate to patient level of understanding and motivation as evidenced by feedback.
- Participates in committees, departmental processes and special projects in accordance with clinical expertise and individual performance plan.
- Works to develop and maintain physician relations through phone communication, shadowing, marketing visits, rounds/surgery observation.
- Creates a culture of respectful communication by listening, soliciting team input, engaging in open, honest conversation, being approachable, and acknowledging contributions.
- Accepts constructive feedback and makes timely changes as evidenced by coaching forms/chart audits and team feedback.
- Completes new evaluations and discharge follow‑up phone calls to support patient satisfaction goals.
- Proactively completes non‑patient responsibilities within established timelines (coverage notes, PTO/schedule change requests, bonus pay forms and follow‑up calls).
- Contributes to departmental educational efforts (e.g., in‑services, journal clubs, new‑hire orientation, professional improvement). Minimum expectation: in‑service from continuing education course or leading an article review.
- Acts as a clinical instructor to students, observers, interns.
- Maintains department benchmarks and uses non‑billable time efficiently.
- Shows willingness to flex schedule to meet patient care needs, attend quarterly staff meetings and department meetings outside normal hours.

- Master’s degree in athletic training (if graduated after July 1, 2020), Bachelor’s degree (if graduated before July 1, 2020)
