Description

This Advanced Practice Provider will work in our Urology department, performing a mix of ambulatory clinic, inpatient rounding, and first‑assist responsibilities.

Schedule:

Monday – Friday, daytime hours. Locations:
Lake Forest and Glenview.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise and expanded knowledge through patient care activities, including diagnosis and management of a wide range of health problems.
  • Be responsible for health outcomes of an assigned patient population.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other health professionals.
  • Develop educational systems for patients, families, and staff.
  • Mentor graduate students in advanced practice and patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement and/or research.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients’ health status.
  • Provide direct clinical care to patients.
  • Prescribe or order medications, therapies, laboratory tests, x‑rays and procedures according to clinical privileges.
  • Evaluate patients to determine further health‑care requirements.
  • Teach patients and families.
  • Document all care, education, and procedures in the medical record.
  • Refer to other disciplines as appropriate.
  • Act as a consultant to other disciplines.
  • Integrate research‑based knowledge and clinical expertise into decision making.
  • Exemplify a professional image.
  • Advocate for patients, families, coworkers, and the community.
  • Maintain certifications and continuing education for licensure and privileging.
  • Serve as a patient advocate and role model for “Patients First.”
  • Participate in committees, task forces, or hospital initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver teaching strategies to patients and families.
  • Develop and deliver programs to meet staff continuing‑education needs.
  • Act as a preceptor and provide formal education to internal and external groups.
  • Participate in quality improvement and/or research initiatives.
Qualifications – Required
  • Master’s degree from an accredited school/college of nursing or a Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  • Acute‑care certification required for APRNs (inpatient experience as an NP may be considered in lieu of certification).
  • First Assist certification for all APRNs.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in Illinois and as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in Illinois, or current license as a Physician Assistant in Illinois.
  • Credentialed through the Northwestern Medicine Medical Staff Office (MSO).
  • Cardio‑Pulmonary Resuscitation – BLS issued by the American Heart Association.
