Medical Assistant – Neurology (Full Time Days)

Salary: $18.98 – $24.68 hourly. $2,000 sign‑on bonus. 40 hours/week, Monday‑Friday, 7a–5:30p. Primary locations:
Lake Forest & Lake Bluff campuses; occasional coverage at Grayslake & Glenview.

- Assure efficient patient flow through the site:
- Escort patient to exam room, verify identity, prepare for examination.
- Obtain accurate vital signs.
- Document reason for visit and update allergies, smoking history, pharmacy info.
- Notify provider & RN of significant changes.
- Set up equipment or supplies needed.
- Clean and prepare exam room for next patient.
- Expedite visits and maintain patient flow.
- Assist practitioner with procedures such as ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, specimen collection, CLIA‑waived testing.
- Provide high‑quality care:
- Prepare & stock exam rooms per protocols.
- Participate in environmental safety rounds.
- Maintain vaccine & medication inventory.
- Monitor equipment & instruments.
- Assist in ordering supplies and dispose expired items.
- Adhere to office opening & closing procedures.
- Promote patient satisfaction by interacting professionally and friendly.
- Perform delegated procedures safely and efficiently (see specialty practice addendum).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Required:
- Proof of eligibility to write one of the five MA certification exams (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA, NRCMA).
- Accepted documentation:
- New MA graduates (within 6 months) – letter from school or certifying body.
- Non‑certified MAs or new graduates (past 6 months) – letter from certifying body.
- Within first 6 months will complete one of the following certifications (up to 2 attempts):
- CMA (AAMA)
- RMA (AMT)
- NCMA (NCCT)
- CCMA (NHA)
- NRCMA (NAHP)
- All candidates/ incumbents:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification.
- Signed acknowledgement that certification must be attained within 6 months.
- Strong computer skills.
- Preferred:
- Completion of accredited MA training program.
- 1–2 years ambulatory care experience.
- Experience with electronic medical record.
