The Lake Forest Parks & Recreation Department is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team as Camp Counselors for the summer camp programs. The role of the Camp Counselor is crucial in creating a fun and safe environment for campers while ensuring their well-being. Ideal candidates will be passionate about working with children, fostering teamwork, and creating memorable summer experiences.
Responsibilities- Supervise and ensure the safety of campers during activities, games, and crafts.
- Assist in planning and organizing age-appropriate activities.
- Manage camper behavior and foster a positive, inclusive environment.
- Communicate with campers, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Follow and enforce safety protocols, handling emergencies effectively.
- Collaborate with fellow counselors and camp leadership to maintain a supportive team atmosphere.
- Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating responsibility, enthusiasm, and a strong work ethic.
- Complete daily reports, maintain accurate attendance records, and submit necessary paperwork.
Must be at least 16 years old.
Qualifications- Previous experience with children in a camp or recreational setting is preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Enthusiastic, responsible, and committed to providing a positive camp experience.
The camp season runs from June 8th - August 14th. Mandatory Staff Training will be held in May, dates TBD.
