R & D Procurement and Contracting Specialist
Performs limited purchasing work in analysis, sourcing, or contracting.
Job Posting Description Comments:
This individual will assist the Global Sourcing Lead for R&D in providing support to internal customers associated with client Pharmaceutical and Device R&D organizations with procurement and outsourcing of Engineering, Laboratory, Contract Research and Clinical Research services. The specialist will provide guidance to internal business users on the sourcing and procurement process, conduct and evaluate requests for proposals (RFPs), manage material purchases and manage contract development activities.
The specialist will comply with client Code of Conduct and Procurement policies at all times.
The R&D Procurement Specialist must understand key principals of sourcing strategy development, total cost management, contract negotiation, category management and supplier risk management.
Qualifications & Experience- 4 year degree required.
- 3 - 5+ years of experience in Sourcing, Procurement or Contracts and Outsourcing.
- Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical or Medical Device industry experience required.
- Previous procurement experience in clinical trials/outsourcing or scientific services a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to negotiate internally and with suppliers to drive results while maintaining strong relationships.
- Strong project management skills, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively across functional, skill and organizational levels.
- Experience working with Ariba or SAP preferred.
Accounting and Finance experience required. Ideal experience is mix of agency and corporate so that they know how to work within the corporate structure (processed and hierarchy).
