We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer to design and develop robust, scalable, and user-friendly software solutions for ophthalmic imaging and diagnostics, supporting the needs of healthcare providers and improving patient outcomes. The applications cover segmentation of anterior and posterior segment anatomies, calculations of topography maps, wavefront maps, OCT-Angiography, and other ocular applications. As the person in this role, you will need to have intimate knowledge of ML segmentation and image processing tools and applications.
You will be at the forefront acting as the primary authority for ML and ocular applications within the organization. We have no existing anything, this is a role for someone who wants to make a real difference developing the world’s best ophthalmic platform. You need to be a self-starter, comfortable with a fast-paced workplace, able to achieve goals within a high-level of ambiguity, work across functional lines, and take a hands-on approach to explore and find optimal solutions.
- Design and implement software modules for an ophthalmic diagnostics device
- Develop ML-modules and algorithms to segment anatomies of ocular surfaces in Optical Coherence Tomography images
- Develop topography maps, wavefront maps, denoising libraries, and other ocular calculations derived from 3-dimenstional images
- Develop Angiography maps for ocular tissues based on Optical Coherence Tomography images
- Develop algorithms and libraries for instrument calibration tools
- Create software libraries and modules to work on the device
- Software analysis, planning, design, implementation, and verification of a novel medical device
- Develop software modules and components that meet the software requirements and design inputs
- Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
- Co-ordinates and provides input to other developers on interfaces
- Produce high quality testable code according to design specifications
- Document software design specifications, implementation details, and test plans
- Identify and prioritize new software features and applications in conjunction with project stakeholders
- Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to define software requirements, architecture, and software interfaces
- Participate in code peer reviews with the development team to ensure a high-level of quality is maintained
- Contribute to product requirement development and risk management reviews
- Troubleshoot and debug software issues throughout the development process
- Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in software development
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, vision science, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in medical-imaging algorithm design and implementation
- Strong experience with AI/ML model development
- Experience Ophthalmology, Optometry, and/or Vision Science
- Experience with Git
- Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and object-oriented principles
- Familiarity with medical device regulations and standards is a plus
- Desired: strong background in mathematics, computer vision techniques, and/or computer graphics methods
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to details, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
