GENERAL FUNCTIONThe Sr. Environmental Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing environmental programs across the Oakley Foothill Ranch (FHR) campus to ensure compliance with local, state (California), and federal regulatory requirements, as well as Essilor Luxottica global EHS policies and procedures. This role requires broad environmental expertise to analyze and control conditions contributing to environmental impact, champion a world‑class EHS culture, and drive continuous improvement that supports operational excellence.
MAJORDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, implement, and manage environmental systems and programs ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Lead preparation and submission of regulatory reports (HMBP, AER, TRI, DTSC, CUPA, etc.).
- Oversee AQMD permitting and understand pollution control equipment requirements.
- Implement and maintain ISO 14001 or other environmental management systems / continuous improvement processes at a manufacturing site.
- Analyze environmental metrics and provide leadership insights and reporting to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the environmental risk is highest.
- Manage safety data sheet (SDS) compliance for products produced at the facility with third party authoring companies.
- Establish environmental goals aligned with broader organizational objectives.
- Provide environmental expertise and technical support.
- Lead root cause analysis for environmental incidents.
- Develop and deliver environmental training.
- Builds & maintains relationships with regulatory agencies and represents the company.
- Collaborate with internal business partners on new products, equipment, and sustainability initiatives.
- Partner with North American & global EHS teams to integrate best practices.
- Develop and execute the site’s sustainability strategy and adapt it as necessary to meet the changing needs of the business and global CSR initiatives.
- Partner with safety function to ensure consistency in support to business (incident reporting, risk assessments, mangagement of change, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s in chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering, or related field
- 8+ years’ EHS experience in a manufacturing organization
- Experience with environmental regulatory agencies & understanding of local, state, and Federal environmental regulatory requirements in California.
- Experience in a fast-paced, changing/growing organization.
