General Function

The Oakley User Experience (UX) team delivers clear, human-centered insights to elevate our products. The UX Manager leads projects, mentors the research team, and influences cross‑functional partners. This role aligns research tools and methods to business goals, ensuring high research ROI. The UX Manager drives efforts to unpack information, convert data into action, and integrate insights into product strategy, R&D, design, development, and marketing to help create the unexpected.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage direct and functional reports, building team and process infrastructure. Identify process and skill gaps to improve effectiveness and speed. Introduce new methodologies that support the UX strategy.
  • Apply design thinking to shape cross‑functional workflows, workshops, and project milestones.
  • Partner with VPL leadership to build a UX strategy aligned with product, marketing, R&D, and sport performance initiatives.
  • Collaborate with global Essilor/Luxottica UX/CMI teams as partners and resources.
  • Assign projects, set priorities, and ensure strong handoff and ideation.
  • Translate project goals into user research plans, including guides, interviews, focus groups, surveys, and persona development.
  • Plan, design, and conduct rigorous in‑person usability testing and ethnographic research.
  • Conduct analytics‑based research including competitive benchmarks and heuristic evaluations.
  • Produce data‑driven reports, user profiles, workflows, and day‑in‑the‑life scenarios.
  • Ensure creation of case documents to deepen organizational understanding of users.
  • Present research findings to innovation and design teams for integration into product decisions.
  • Provide design suggestions informed by research, observation, and expertise.
  • Partner closely with VPL leadership to optimize timelines and support transparency and collaboration across teams.
  • Develop and refine research methods and train the team accordingly.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design, human sciences, or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in physical product development, user experience, consumer insights, or strategic planning.
  • End‑to‑end research experience across multiple methodologies.
  • Strong interest in voice‑of‑customer insights, translating findings into requirements, conducting evaluations, and communicating results.
  • Expertise in qualitative and quantitative methods.
