Job Purpose And Summary

Supported by rigorous company training and state licensing requirements, Pharmacy Technicians (Technicians) assist pharmacy teams in delivering operational and service excellence. They are often the first point of contact, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while providing caring service that exceeds patient expectations. Technicians maintain a safe and inclusive culture, uphold SOPs, and communicate effectively throughout shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help our Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (i.e., production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: creating heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru, and over the phone; keeping patients healthy by offering immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone; and demonstrating compassionate care by solving or escalating patient problems.
  • Complete basic inventory activities, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries, completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting‑bin inventories, etc., as permitted by law and directed by pharmacy leadership.
  • Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, seek opportunities for clinical and technical knowledge, and accept feedback.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, volunteer for work shifts in the market as required.
  • Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; comply with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and privacy.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntarily staffing off‑site clinics) where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.
Support Immunization Responsibilities
  • Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status and support vaccine preparation and administration.
  • Educate patients about vaccine importance and refer questions to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty.
  • Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
  • Review and collect patient information; track and document applicable data.
  • Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, which includes age, education, and licensure/certification.
  • Minimum age: if not specified by state board, at least 16 years of age.
  • Minimum education:

    if not specified by state board, have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or a high school equivalency program.
