Description

Safety Inspectors are required to have a strong understanding of aviation safety principles, aircraft operation and maintenance, AAR policies and federal laws. Primarily, inspectors ensure that mechanics, technicians, QC inspectors, aircraft and other equipment function properly. Troubleshooting, diagnosing and repair skills are also part of the job. Applicants typically bring experience as an A&P mechanic, QC Inspector or QA auditor. Safety Inspectors conduct interviews, review documentation, observe activities, perform audits, surveillance and investigations to determine whether organizations and/or individuals are conducting business in accordance with regulations and established policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure all Repair Station personnel comply with current Federal Aviation Regulations, Repair Station and Quality Control Manual, and Policies and Procedures.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, professionalism, and positive customer service attitude without compromising quality.
  • Ensure maintenance and inspection personnel use approved or accepted data issued by the manufacturer, FAA and or Customer.
  • Ensure adequate inspection aids, special tools and equipment are available, and maintained in a serviceable condition.
  • Oversight of facility technician training requirements.
  • Oversight of the facility tool control and tool calibration program.
  • Ensure final inspections are properly performed on all work completed before it is released for Return to Service.
  • Conduct audits as required.
  • Ensure incoming parts, supplies, and articles receive an incoming inspection (Receiving Inspection) according to repair station policies and procedures.
  • Perform such other tasks as may be reasonably assigned by supervisor.
  • Perform investigations of accidents, incidents and customer reported quality escapes.
Specialized Experience Safety Inspector – Maintenance
  • Experience involving the maintenance and repair of airframes, power plants, and systems of multi‑engine aircraft s of more than 12,500 pounds maximum certificated takeoff weight under an airworthiness maintenance and inspection program.
  • Aircraft maintenance experience in a repair station, air carrier or airline repair facility, military repair facility, or local, state, or Federal governmental agency.
  • Experience involving the maintenance and repair of airframes, power plants and aircraft systems with responsibility for certifying airworthiness.
  • Aircraft maintenance work experience within the last 3 years.
Safety Inspector – Avionics
  • Aircraft avionics experience involving the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of installed avionics systems on aircraft.
  • Avionics maintenance experience on aircraft of more than 12,500 pounds maximum certificated takeoff weight.
  • Aircraft avionics work experience (including supervision or auditing) in a repair station, air carrier repair facility, military repair facility, or local, state, or Federal governmental agency within the last 3 years.
