The NG-MIP program is open to all ranks and experience levels. Skill Bridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as Active-duty service members.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities for this internship include participating in the DoD Skill Bridge program, on-site internship in an entry to mid-level role, and a 40-hour work week. Specific duties and goals include:
- Adjusts, repairs, or replaces aircraft system components and accessories
- Performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
- Reads and interprets manuals, service bulletins, and engineering data to determine repair methods
- Enter maintenance records describing work performed and verify completion
Additional duties may include technical guidance from a supervisor or higher-level technician.
DoD Skill Bridge Eligibility- Has served at least 180 days on active duty
- Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
- Will receive an honorable discharge
- Has completed service TAPS/TGPS
- Has attended an ethics brief within the last 12 months
- Has authorization to participate in DoD Skill Bridge prior to start
Basic Qualification Level 1
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum 2 years experience
Basic Qualification Level 2
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum 6 years experience
General Qualifications
Able to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hours; able to travel; able to work in variable physical conditions; able to wear respirator or safety gear; able to meet DoD Skill Bridge qualifications as per DODI 1322.29
- A&P License
- Prior E-6B/707 aircraft experience
- Able to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance
- Experience performing major aircraft modifications
These positions are Service Contract Act positions and contingent upon funding. Hiring is for any shift. Primary duties include various aircraft maintenance tasks as detailed in the responsibilities above.
Salary and BenefitsPrimary Level Salary Range: 32.82 per hour
Secondary Level Salary Range: 0.00 per hour
The salary range is a general guideline and may vary based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Benefits may include overtime eligibility, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and long-term incentives. Northrop Grumman offers health and life insurance, a savings plan, holidays, and paid time off.
