Overview
E-6B IMMC SCA Aircraft Mechanic 2 (Avionics) - R at Northrop Grumman. This role supports a maintenance program in Lake Charles, LA. The Navy E-6 is an airborne command post and communications relay based on the Boeing 707 platform, modified to the E-6B standard. It conveys instructions from the National Command Authority to fleet ballistic missile submarines (TACAMO).

- Maintains, repairs, and modifies aircraft electrical wiring and components of moderate difficulty
- Maintains and repairs aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components
- Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition or operation; interprets technical documentation (blueprints, manuals) to solve problems
- Troubleshoots malfunctions in electrical wiring, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, APU, ventilation and heating systems
- Repairs, replaces, and rebuilds functional components, including rigging, surface controls, and hydraulic/plumbing units, using hand tools and shop equipment
- Reads and interprets manufacturers’ and airlines’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, and other specifications to determine repair or replacement methods
- Performs 100-hour, progressive, isochronal, phase, periodic, and other inspections; inspects engines and components for cracks, wear, corrosion, or other defects
- Inspects jet engine turbine blades for cracks or distortion; tests engine operation with appropriate equipment to locate malfunctions
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum 6 years of experience
- Ability to work in an approved environment during specified hours; able to travel and relocate on need
- Willingness to wear respirator or other safety gear; able to work in varied physical conditions
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Be able to use manual tools and electrical/avionic test equipment
- Be able to assemble, modify, and install wire bundles and electrical components
- A&P license
- Prior E-6B experience
- Ability to obtain/maintain Secret DoD clearance
- Experience performing major aircraft modifications
Salary:
Primary Level Salary Range: $34.90 per hour (example figure; actual offers depend on qualifications and market conditions). Overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses may apply. Northrop Grumman offers health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, holidays, and PTO.
