Nuclear Med Tech (PRN)
Lake Charles Memorial Health System
This position involves preparing, documenting and administering diagnostic doses of radiopharmaceuticals in clinical nuclear medicine procedures, working closely with the Radiation Safety Officer.
SupervisionReports directly to the Nurse Manager and/or Charge Nurse.
Responsibilities and Duties- Supervisory responsibilities include overseeing the care of all assigned patients.
- Radioactive material handling and protection.
- Perform department QA measures and cath lab correlations.
- Participate in ongoing performance improvements.
- Keep the department compliant with JCAHO and ICANL regulations/requirements.
- File reports and communicate with hospitals and other offices as needed.
- Competent in venipuncture techniques.
- Consistently communicate abnormal variances of data (vital signs, pain) to appropriate staff.
- Perform QC protocols on all equipment.
- Perform routine scheduled exams in a timely fashion.
- Obtain pertinent patient history and documentation.
- Operate a variety of computer systems necessary for daily patient handling.
- Understand and maintain radiation safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean, well‑stocked area routinely.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Registered Nuclear Technologist with the American Registry of Radiological Technicians.
- Basic math skills that include physics and chemistry.
- ARRT certification or certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
- Must be licensed in Nuclear Medicine with the State of Louisiana.
- CPR certified.
- Ability to communicate with patients, families, peers, and medical personnel.
- Requires emotional stability and resilience.
- Must be adaptable to change and receptive to delegated responsibilities.
- The physical demands vary according to the physical setting.
- Work requires a variety of physical activities including moving and being stationary for long periods of time.
- Ability to position self to reach and use different equipment.
- The work environment may be physically confining.
- Visual acuity is required for a variety of specific activities.
- Must have normal hearing or utilize adaptive hearing devices if duties require listening with a stethoscope to discern breath sounds, heart sounds, and bowel sounds.
- Ability to do shift work as required.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
