Position: Outpatient Therapist - Full Time

Overview

At Oceans Behavioral Hospital Lake Charles, healing is our focus. Utilizing proven, innovative and progressive therapies, our qualified professionals strive to promote long-term wellness through a range of inpatient and outpatient psychiatric counseling and treatment options.

As a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, our therapists provide direct clinical services - including assessments, interventions, treatment planning and discharge planning, as well as providing individual, family, and/or group therapy to further patient/family/group progress in treatment.

Responsibilities
  • Provides direct clinical services in accordance with accepted standards of social/work clinical practice.
  • Plans and conducts individual, family and/or group therapy as assigned by the Director of Social Services or physician's order.
  • Conducts, assesses and interprets completion of Comprehensive Integrated Assessment.
  • Reviews all Multidisciplinary assessments and compiles a Multidisciplinary Treatment Plan under the supervision of the attending physician.
  • Performs case management and discharge planning as assigned by the Director of Social Services.
  • Attends multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, provides updates on assigned patients and their progress toward treatment goals; combines the reports of all disciplines into a multidisciplinary treatment integration summary to facilitate progress toward treatment plan goals.
  • Delivers patient services in an ethical manner that promotes respect for the patient and enhances dignity and satisfaction; demonstrates the ability to assess and interpret a patient’s response to treatment in age/disability/culturally sensitive ways.
  • Assesses and interprets age/disability/cultural needs; identifies safety, psychosocial, special mobility and equipment needs; communicates in an age/disability/culturally sensitive manner to patients and their families.
  • Conducts treatment and discharge planning in accordance with age/disability/cultural needs and involves members of the patient’s support system in decision making as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements Educational / Experience Requirements
  • At a minimum a Clinical Social Worker (CSW), LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LPC-A (TX Only) or Psychologist.
  • 0 to 1 year post-graduate experience in clinical practice.
Qualifications / Skills
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related disability-related needs of the patients served on assignment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient population served.
  • Is able to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status to identify needs and provide appropriate care, including age-related care/disability/cultural sensitivity related care to adolescent, chronically mentally ill, adult, geriatric, chemically dependent, and dually diagnosed populations.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of mental illness and chemical dependency and the family dynamics that accompany them.
  • Has basic knowledge of chronic mental illness.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of clinical therapy modalities.
  • Maintains excellent communication and group/process skills related to age specific patient needs.
  • Is able to demonstrate assessment, intervention, treatment and discharge planning skills.
  • Can pass the general age/disability post-test.
  • Is versatile, flexible, and able to perform in stressful situations.
  • Has good time and organizational skills.
  • Is capable of coordinating a multi-faceted workload.
  • Is able to work with an array of mental/physical disabled persons.
  • Must successfully complete CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral de-escalation program.
Working Environment

Subject to many interruptions. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. This position can be high paced and stressful; must be able to cope mentally and physically with the atmosphere.
