This position is designated as a Safety Sensitive position and is subject to mandatory pre-employment and random drug testing.

This posting can be filled as a Safety Specialist II, Safety Specialist Senior, or Safety Specialist III depending on qualifications.

Supports Utility Operations in the management of developing safety training programs, strategy, presentations, workshops, communications, policy, and rules.

• Work with Jurisdictional Safety Team to ensure effective implementation of safety programs and the creation of new programs from analyzing audit/observation/assessment information and consistent system-wide application of safety processes and procedures across the jurisdiction.
• Support the contract workforce, including: investigating contractor incidents and safety-related issues on Entergy System; performing field observations to assure compliance with OSHA Regulations and Entergy Safety Rules and Procedures; assisting Contractor Safety Department during accident investigations; and supporting contractor training of Entergy Safety Rules and Procedures.
• Must be familiar with and have the ability to interpret OSHA regulations and provide guidance to management on the proper application of these regulations in the workplace.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Desired:
  Bachelor's degree, preferably in the area of Safety, or equivalent work experience.

• Safety Specialist II: 4-6 years of related experience
• Safety Specialist III: 7-10 years of related experience
• Sr. Safety Specialist: 11-14 years of related experience
• Preferred:
  Previous distribution and substation experience

Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of employees. Ability to influence and motivate a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce dealing with a wide variety of safety and training issues. Strong knowledge of computers and related technology. Ability to work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to take and understand directives and complete tasks.

Ability to make timely and safe decisions. Excellent knowledge of Entergy's safety policies and procedures. Strong problem solver. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Self‑motivated dependable team player. Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and mitigate them. Ability to maintain and care for company equipment and safeguard assets. Ability to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner.
