SUMMARY
The Environmental Field Technician I will support field efforts at various client sites. Assignments will include, but not be limited to, air quality monitoring, waste and water sampling, and engineering field efforts. This field-based position requires frequent travel, equipment operation, and data collection in outdoor environments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
)
- Three years’ experience in an industrial setting OR a two-year technical degree, preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record.

- Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Respond to company and client calls, including during extended hours, and work overtime when necessary.
- Self-Directed – Shows initiative and the ability to organize oneself. Volunteers readily. Able to self-direct work with little supervision.
- Reliable – Punctual. Able to accept and complete duties according to necessary specifications; accepts responsibility.
- Communicator - Able to succinctly convey information. Comfortable with communicating everything from organizational goals to specific tasks to all levels easily. Proficient listener.
- Safety conscious – Values the safety of self and others by following all regulations and guidelines, wearing necessary PPE, and continuously upholding safety expectations.
- Detail-oriented - Able to pay close attention to the small particulars when working on a task in order to produce a high-quality product.
- Assist in the preparation, deployment, and sampling of air monitoring activities.
- Independently assemble, operate, and troubleshoot ambient air testing equipment.
- Ensure all project preparation is complete before fieldwork, including equipment cleaning, repair, and calibration.
- Conduct facility inspections, audits, and sampling in compliance with environmental standards.
- Maintain and calibrate air monitoring equipment, including stationary Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and mobile ambient air monitoring stations.
- Complete Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) and participate in toolbox meetings.
- Follow all safety procedures and report potential hazards or unsafe practices to supervisors.
- Deliver excellent customer service to clients in the field.
- Assist with laboratory, shop, and equipment maintenance.
- Generate accurate and complete documentation of all field activities.
- Assist with Wetland Assimilation Monitoring:
- Leaf collection from litter traps;
- Measurement of diameter at breast height of trees within study plots;
- Assistance with soil, sediment, and vegetation sampling;
- Assistance with sediment accretion measurements; and
- Assistance with Rod-Surface Elevation Table installation.
- Assist with storm water sampling.

- Ability to regularly stand, sit, or walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear; reach, stoop, bend, kneel, and/or crouch.
- Ability to travel frequently and on short notice, with some overnight travel.
- Ability to walk long distances.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work at elevated heights.
- Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain, sometimes for extended periods of time.
