Position: Husbandry Technicians (Sea Sites)

Scotland’s aquaculture sector is evolving and 2026 brings new opportunities for those looking to build a hands‑on, outdoor career in sustainable fish farming and marine operations. We’re recruiting practical, reliable individuals to join our client’s sea site team, where you’ll work directly with salmon stock and learn from experienced colleagues in a supportive, safety‑focused environment.

About the role

As a Husbandry Technician, you’ll be part of a close‑knit team responsible for the daily care and welfare of salmon stock king alongside the Site Manager, Assistant Manager and Skipper, you’ll support feeding routines, monitor fish health and contribute to the smooth running of site operations.

Key responsibilities
  • Feeding and monitoring fish appetite to optimise growth and feed conversion
  • Operating manual and automatic feeding systems
  • Checking net integrity, removing mortalities and recording cause of death
  • Supporting grading, splitting and treatment operations
  • Maintaining walkways in a clean, tidy and safe manner
  • Upholding fish welfare and environmental standards
  • Following health & safety protocols
  • Relaying instructions and supporting junior staff where appropriate
  • Participating in weekend rota
What we are looking for

You don’t necessarily need aquaculture experience – just a strong work ethic, good attention to detail and a willingness to learn. We welcome applicants with transferable skills from farming, production or other practical backgrounds.

  • ML5 medical and industry certifications provided
  • Entry‑level candidates welcome via temp‑to‑perm route (£14.10/hour based on 37.5 hours/week equivalent)
  • Permanent contracts available for those with relevant experience
Pay & perks
  • Starting salary: £27,500–£29,000 depending on experience
  • Overtime rates: x1.5 weekdays after 37.5 hours / x1.75 weekends
  • Accommodation:
    Part‑subsidised housing available
